The film's script was written by Australian novelist Julia Leigh, who also made her directorial debut.

It tells the story of a widower father, Al, and his teenage son, Fin, who both fall in love with Evelyn, a former stripper queen who now works as a florist. When they discover they are competing for the same woman, old wounds are reopened.
